Canadian DJ Jack Trades releases ‘Kill Me Slowly’

 Image: Chane Neveling

Toronto DJ and music producer is making his own path into the EDM scene, currently sitting close to 3.6 million streams on major platforms he continues to impress. He has featured on popular Spotify playlists including Friday Cratediggers, Katch Flights, mint Canada and Sensual Musique’s Good Life Radio mix for 2020. As well, as being featured in renowned publications like Your EDM, Dancing Astronaut and EDM Sauce.

Jack Trades shares his thoughts on the single, “The very early version draft of this song had a very different instrumental and a different singer that tackled the subject of “challenges in a relationship” but was unable to capture the whole emotion in the song. My Label A&R then introduced me to Heather Janssen, sent her the instrumental and soon as we heard the first scratch on the instrumental, we knew we had something special. I was able to get in the studio with Heather in Toronto and really connect on the writing and what we envisioned with the song. Funny thing is when Heather did finalize writing ‘Kill Me Slowly’, we ended up doing a brand new production around her vocals to suit the mood of the record.”

Paired with upbeat soundscapes and rhythmic basslines,  and the charming vocals from Janssen and the ‘Kill Me Slowly’ chorus will linger in your mind.

Hot Chip shares Daði Freyr dance remix

Adorned with an infectious chorus and a modern disco flare, Hot Chip cranks up the synths and adds extra punch to give “Think About Things” a dancefloor-ready spin. “Think About Things” is funky, cool and nostalgic, with Daði Freyr’s hollow voice giving the single its subdued charm. The track flourishes as Daði Freyr builds stacked harmonies and Hot Chip captivates listeners with a brilliant guitar line that bursts into an all out electronic tune.

DaðI Freyr writes, “Getting Hot Chip to remix my song was a dream that I didn’t ever see becoming a possibility until a few weeks ago. The remix is awesome! It’s so surreal to hear their sound on my song. Hot Chip has had a huge influence on me as an artist, I became a superfan when they released ‘One Life Stand’ in 2010. They are one of the few bands I have listened to consistently for a decade!”

Daði Freyr (pron. dā-di fray-er) exploded onto the scene this February with the release of his “Think About Things” music video – Watch Here. The Icelandic artist was on track to win the 2020 Eurovision competition before it was unfortunately canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t stop “Think About Things” from becoming one of the biggest viral sensations across the globe.

The music video’s quirky dance party has driven a massive outpouring of recreations on TikTok, with support from celebrities like James Corden, Pink, and Russell Crowe. “Think About Things” has since accumulated 7M YouTube views and 7.8M Spotify streams, boosting Daði Freyr to 652K Spotify Monthly Listeners and earning spots on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. “Think About Things” is only a glimpse of Daði Freyr’s promising future, keep an eye out for new music on the horizon.

Multi-platinum DJ Shaun Frank and singer Alica Moffet’s personalized video

Renowned multi-platinum DJ and music producer Shaun Frank and singer Alicia Moffet have released the official video for the song  ‘On Your Mind’ via Physical Presents. The ‘On Your Mind’ single is currently ranking up in the Mediabase Dance Airplay Chart in the US. The music video was directed by Toronto-based Clay Price (Deadmau5, Ilan Bluestone, and Delaney Jane).

Clay Price talks about the video, “The concept for the video was to capture the process of Shaun and Alicia’s collaboration and the excitement of traveling to perform it live for the first time. We had an amazing looking studio to shoot at, in Boston, as they were working on the piano rendition of the song. We were able to convert the studio for Alicia’s colourful performance scene and topped it all off with an epic DJ set from Shaun where the two artists debuted the song to a sold-out crowd.”

Featuring Vancouver DJ Shaun Frank and Quebec singer in the process of forming the single creates a more personalized touch.  Director Clay Price sets the mood with bold and colourful lighting, which creates a warm atmosphere that is reminiscent of romantic summer nights, that compliments the tone of the song.
